If this an adequate computer for EMC2/Ubuntu Hardy was created by ichudov
I just set up a Dell Precision 4100 desktop. This one has a single 1 GHZ processor, 512 MB of memory, an IDE hard drive (I put in a brand new HD). I can easily upgrade memory to 1 GB, since according to dmidecode, I can have up to 2 slots of 512 MB each. 1994 bogomips.
Two questions:
1) Is it adequate to use with a Bridgeport Series II interact 2 knee mill
2) Do I need to have 1 GB of memory or is existing 512 okay?
This is an old POS desktop that I had, but the plus is, I already have it and it has plenty of PCI card slots.
When not CNCing, I will just use it as a general purpose garage computer that is networked with the rest of my home network (NFS, etc).
I already installed the standard EMC2 Ubuntu install.
Thanks

It looks like I stay under 9000 ns after a few initial startup seconds. So I should be good. I will probably upgrade the memory anyway, to improve my browsing experience.
