Hi,

Let me first say that I am completely new to the world of Linux/Ubuntu, so please understand that I am unfamiliar with the terminology. My experience has always been with Windows programs, so moving over to a Linux program is a new experience.

Due to the raves reviews on EMC2, I recently downloaded the livecd version of Ubuntu/EMC2 and loaded it on to my computer. I went through the Stepcon wizard and setup my CNC Mill. I was able to operate my XYZ axis in Stepcon and do some motor tuning, so I know that I am communicating with my mill. When I finished Stepcon Wizard I re-booted my system and attempted to open EMC2 and I got the following message.....BTW I am running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid-Lynx...

Obviously I am doing something wrong, but what, I don't know. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I did run the update manager this morning so I believe that all files are current. I think it downloaded about 300 files and did the update.

My computer is a home built Intel P4, 2 .0 gig, 1 gig ram and I have disabled all the power management crap that usually runs in the background. I did this and it improved my latency numbers to around 22,000.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

You can't have a space in the configuration name even though the StepConf Wizard lets you. :S

WOW, that was quick!!! Thank you BigJohnT. I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon and last evening trying to get EMC2 running, all on account of a SPACE. Well, it's going to be a learning experience. Thank you very much.
