Because of an increase in spammers, the first post of newly signed up users is moderated. There may be a small delay in the first post showing up because a moderator has to approve it. After the first post is approved all posts are allowed automatically. This has already eliminated spam from making it on the forum, but can be a small inconvenience to new users.
