initramfs problem with 8.04 was created by keema
Hello,
I've finally acquired a suitable PC for EMC2. Its an old 1U server, 1GHz Pentium III, 2GB RAM, two SCSI drives.
Unfortunately it refuses to install (or load live), instead it stops at the busybox/initramfs screen.
I dont know where to find boot errors, but I am guessing it has something to do with the SCSI drives. I have tried fiddling with the extra options on the boot screen (turning everything off and booting 'safe' graphics).
The machine used to have BSD on it, so I know it works.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be? Google didnt help me much.
Also, is this likely to be a big problem to fix? Would it be easier if I try the Ubuntu 10 developments?
Thank you!

For old computers I would try 8.04 or 6.06 first then 10.04. I came across the same problem with a newer motherboard with 8.04 and had to install the stock Ubuntu 10.04.4 then install EMC.

No luck with Ubuntu I'm afraid. Not sure what the problem is.
Debian Lenny seems to be installing OK at the moment, so I'll follow the steps in the wiki instead.
Thanks
