Not really sure what your asking... are you wanting EMC to start up when you log in?

Hi john,

As you said, yes i want to run the machine config at the moment i log into the KDE session, i've tried but nothing worked yet.. so i decided to ask here because probably someone made this before.

By the way... because i'm new on linux i would like to know how to make the .ini file from my machine config to start the program when i log in... because when i use a shortcut... the .ini file is the one who starts the program, but i don't know wich propiertes are the ones who give the condition of executable to the .ini file.

I hope i've been clear, sorry but english is not my first language.

Thanks for your help john.

Hi Leonardo,

Your English is just fine

Take a look here

www.howtogeek.com/howto/ubuntu/how-to-ad...up-list-after-login/

You have to enter the actual command not a link to a desktop thingy like so:

/usr/bin/emc /home/jet/emc2/configs/sim-1/axis.ini

Works for me :)

For KDE it is a little different. You put a link in the ~/.kde/Autostart directory. For a program needing arguments you have to make a small shell script.

Thanks for catching that. I missed that he was using KDE cause I don't have any idea what it is :)

Thanks for your help guys..

I tried using the bash script with kde in the autostart dir but didn't work... i think may be i have missing things in my kde files because i installed only the kde core for making the desktop functional, so i will try installing the full kde desktop and then i'll tell you if it worked.

Best regards from Argentina.
