My X axis on my BP with an Anilam 1100M CNC conversion on it started to rattle like a bearing is bad. I got the shaft end bearing off and it's fine naturally it's the encoder end bearing which for the life of me I can't figure out how to get that black part off so I can remove the coupling for the encoder. I'm assuming the black thing is a resolver or something... so if anyone has any ideas I'm all eyes.

Thanks
JT

I got the plastic cover, the coupling and the tacho off but it's not making sense to me at this point... the bearing if the ID is bigger than the tacho windings would be pretty big. It looks like the tacko windings are pressed onto a very small shaft? No, the encoder shaft is pressed into the end of the servo shaft.

I didn't have much to lose so I put the puller on and turned the screw by hand and the tacho winding came off with the cover...

Well that was an excuse to buy a bearing separator from horrible freight. Bearings are out and will be here tomorrow.

What puller did you end up getting? Was it difficult to grab the bearing without damaging the commutator?
I got the older SEM motors and probably will have to do the same thing at some point.

The bearing came right off with no damage to the commutator.

I used this bearing seperator from Horrible Freight.

The real scary part was putting my puller on the brush housing and pulling it and the tacho windings off at one time, but the tacho windings were not very tight on the shaft so it came off without using a wrench on the pulling screw.

I'll have new bearings this morning so I can reassemble it before I forget how... however the shaft seal won't be here till Friday.

Well I put the servo back together this evening but when the drive comes on line the shaft spins real fast for a second then power is off in LinuxCNC....

Well I have till Friday to figure it out when the shaft seal arrives...

Any chance the tacho wiring is reversed?? Runaway?
