Greetings,

I searched each phrase in my title and did not find much....

The Machine seems decent and when I have it running, I think it will meet my needs.

Here we go.

1) I am told that Chinacnczone (CCZ) and ZK Motion have pirated Mach3 software and I need a license from Mach3

2) I loaded Ubuntu on a designated computer and am told Mach3 will not run on Linux

3) It appears (I may be wrong) that Linuxcnc will not run the ZK Motion controller or the MPG

Do I

A) just buy Mach3 and be done with it?

B) Find a way to run this on Linuxcnc

1) New controller?

2) New MPG

Win8 64
Intel J1900
500GB SSD
8GB RAM

Thanks
AP3

Oh good, not spam! :)
My advice, get rid of whatever and make it work with Linuxcnc. Seen plenty of horror with Mach3 and co to insist vigorously on avoiding it altogether.

What should I replace it with? 6 axis control and pendant??

From parallel port wired directly to drives, to Mesa boards. I use parallel for small machines and Mesa for big ones, even on some retrofitted industrial ones weighing in at over 5 tons.

The nearest equivalent of the ZK motion controller for a LinuxCNC installation is probably the Mesa 7i96
store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=produc...t_id=311&search=7i96
But that isn't supported by the normal PnCConf wizard as far as I know. (there is a standalone setup tool)
For more IO and a spindle controller there is the 7i76E.
Those both connect by Ethernet.
If you have a PCI or PCIe port then 5i25 / 6i25 + 7i76 has been popular for many years and is very well supported.

It should be possible to use the MPG, there is another thread about that particular one o n this forum.
