Hello, it will be possible to use the analog output port of the 7i96s card to control a single axis servo motor setup, the driver needs +/- 10volt plus 7i96s encoder.

Another question, could someone give me some information about these CMC drivers model c44-34509?

Thank you.

Probably yes, but only in one direction, and will need 10V provided to it.
Might work for spindle...

It might be possible to get +-10V out of the 7I96S but its a bit
ugly since you would require a split +-10V supply and you
would end up with -10V at power up. A more expensive but
better solution would be to add a 7I83, but that's overkill
with 6 +-10V channels

Thanks for the answers. To be honest, I'm not sure if the SIG 1+ and SIG 1- control inputs on that CMC digital driver are PWM CW and CCW or Step/dir instead of +/- 10 volts. Any suggestions on how to test this would be greatly appreciated.

Those really look like analog +-10V drives

Thank you very much, I'm going to try with a potentiometer connected to a 1.5volt battery for safety.

I already tried that and it damaged my 7i96S, I think it's very risky. The best is the solution that PWC recommends, that's how I did it and I have no problems controlling sevos with drivers that use +-10 for their control. The only thing you need to use is firmware where you replace the STEP DIR with outputs for PWM and DIR.

Thank you very much for your input, I appreciate your advice. I have the following mesa cards: 5i25T + 7i77 in a fiber laser cutter still in development, 7i80hdt in a cnc router, 7i93 +7i33ta, this configuration was the first time used a mesa card Hurco km3p knee mill and the last one is the 7i96s. The thing is that each card is in a machine and the only one "available" is the 7i96s. I just wanted to see if I could use those cmc drivers in a new project, a plasma retrofit.

Mesa 7i96S + 7i85 + 7i83
That combo does step/dir. analog +-10V, encoders and SSerials, add a 7i84 if you need more IO.
