Can anyone direct me to the correct file path , or file structure within the system ? Machine will not move after a restart after , an .INI modification.Machine will run with another machines control. I have found a backup usb stick . But it has several files on it , Not sure what to delete and what to keep? I would like to reload the complete backup into the computer and try it. The hard drive is a cluttered mess , and I would like to clean it out. I will down load the files from the USB , if anyone can help! I will post some pictures also.

To be Honest , I don't have the ability ,capability, or the time for a new configure. The system is password protected. I've tried to boot to a USB with the ISO on it . But the protection wont let me. So I cant do a fresh install.

www.linuxcnc.org/iso/ubuntu-10.04-linuxcnc3-i386.iso
Download, burn to USB, boot from that USB in LIVE mode, open file browser, insert the USB with the backup files, find the .ini file, right click on it and choose "open with", type emc2 or linuxcnc below, hit enter.
Does the machine run properly?

Tried several times , Bios is correct settings , will not boot with the ISO . The machine will run with the other machines control plugged in . I posted a zip of the backup files. But there seems to be alot of extra files.

In the zip file you posted the only "extra" unneeded files I see are all of ones ending in ".halscope". You can safely delete all of those without causing any harm.

As to your issues with booting to live media or reinstalling Linuxcnc. You probably need to turn off those protections in the computer bios, and to do that may require the password to enter the bios editor. If you've forgotten the password, it might be possible to reset this by removing the cmos battery, to return the bios to its default settings.

Todd , what do the halscope files do ? Are they a test ? All the Bios settings appear to be correct , to allow the Boot from ISO, tried several times with Tommies advice , still no luck.

Use Rufus or Balena Etcher to write the image to USB, those usually work on first try.

The halscope files are saved from the Halscope oscilloscope app. They are merely a record of the scope settings and signals that were being used at the time it was saved. So for example I have some Halscope files saved for the settings I use for tuning each of the servos on one of my machines. Using them makes opening and configuring Halscope quicker when doing something you might need to do the same again later or after a restart. But they certainly are not needed for running Linuxcnc.
