Try and remove this line from 'Routout_CNC.hal' (if unsure post the file):
loadrt probe_parport
I think this component has been dropped.

Put a # next to the suggested line. Linuxcnc now fires up with asking for a file conversion.
Get a message on screen saying no parport registered at 0x378 This is not always an error continuing.
The next line in Routout_CNC.hal is:
loadrt hal_parport cfg="0x378 out "

Is the parallel port on the motherboard or is it an add on card?
If built in, go into BIOS and find where the parallel port address can be changed to 378.
If add on
sudo lspci -v | grep parallel

lspci -v says card is a serial device, I have a disk of assorted drivers with the card which would require identifying chipsets and drivers, I have started a new thread asking for recommendations for a PCI printer card that works out of the box.
