Unallocated space on SD card

Hi,

I would be grateful for advice.

I'm new to the forum, linuxcnc and cnc. I've installed linuxcnc on my Raspberry Pi 4. It has 4 GB of memory and a 16 GB SD. I've followed the installation instructions on the linuxcnc pages. Although the installation is successful there is over 10 GB of unallocated space which I cannot seem to merge with the root partition using gparted. Unfortunately, it seems that this space is unusable. Will there be enough room on the formatted partition to save G code files? Would it be more practical to just use a 4 GB SD card, so that space is not wasted on the 16 GB SD when linuxcnc is installed or is there a way to resize the root partition.

Many thanks.

Mark

Boot the RPI with that SD card, open a terminal and type
raspi-config
Navigate to the menu for expanding the partition to remove empty space.

Look, everything is OK.
The ext4 partition is 25% occupied and you have 10.94 Gb free
