Mesact 2 Setup

Using the following

uname -a
Linux debcnc 6.1.0-23-rt-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_RT Debian 6.1.99-1 (2024-07-15) x86_64 GNU/Linux


From the url to install and setup mesact
github.com/jethornton/mesact

To run from a terminal you need to install some depenencies:
sudo apt install python3-pyqt5
sudo apt install python3-distro
sudo apt install zip

When I run..

 sudo apt install python3-distro
 
I get the following error message.

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
Package python3-distro is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'python3-distro' has no installation candidate

What does this in a terminal return:
apt search python3-distro
?

In the terminal I enter the following:
apt search python3-distro

The response is:
Sorting... Done
Full Text Search... Done

That does not seem right at all, i get this on Mint22 I am pretty sure it is an issue with repositories, probably from using and older ISO that had such issues, so Rod should have some info on how to fix that.
In the meantime, open "software sources" from the menu and try enabling other repositories (there are 3, something with romeo, unstable, source code, or similar).
You can do the same thing from the "synaptics package manager" if the above is missing.
Do and update first, then try apt search or apt install again.

Terminal command:
tail /etc/apt/sources.list

deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 12 _Bookworm_ - Snapshot amd64 LIVE/INSTALL Binary 20240721-21:05]/ bookworm contrib main non-free non-free-firmware

looks like I need those repositories you mentioned.

The python3-distro library is in all the recent Debian releases so I'm confused why you don't have it?
