electronics setting up thc up/down/ok with relay outputs

Hey everyone
I got a THC with up, down and ok signal from Planet CNC that i  would like to use with linuxcnc.
this thc is fed 24v in +,- and has relay outputs through up, down, Ok and COM.

The thing is these relays seem to require very low power to pass through COM and the mesa input board.
How do you suggest i wire it? what voltage can i pass through them? could i use a 5v circuit to pass through it and trigger a relay that activates the input on mesa?

My problem is i don't think i will be able to pass 24v through these relays because they will just not have enough resistance.

attached is the diagram of the thc.

thank you!

Which mesa card do you have?  I believe many of them are designed for 24v field power.

i'm using mesa 7i96s. i think the problem is the thc, as it wont support 24v through its small relays

Peeked the manual and it looks to me like they are intentionally vague about the specs of the SSR other than it can handle 200mA.  I am guessing that's because they want you to hook it to their CNC controller.

Maybe try emailing the mfg and seeing if they will tell you what the SSRs are rated at voltage wise? It's hard for me to imagine they support up to 36v supply voltage, but cant handle it on the SSRs for the output signals.

Your drawing shows it can handle 6 to 36 volts. 24 volts should be fine.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. That's the power supply input voltage used to power that portion of the THC, which has two modules separated by an optical cable and is intended to be controlled by their proprietary controller.

OP is very clearly looking to understand the voltage the SSRs can handle. Which is not listed in the manual:

Exactly. And my input circuit is all done in 24v. Im afraid they wont handle that much so I’ll try to create a 5v circuit for these inputs, that triggers a relay for activation of the right input pin in my 24v circuit?

If it were me:
1. I'd start with an email to the mfg, they may be willing to tell you. In the meantime I'd probably get impatient and move to #2 lol.
2. I'd probably take the THC module apart and find the number on the SSRs for the outputs, and look up a data sheet myself.
3. I guess if I were unsuccessful with #1 and unwilling/unable with #2, I'd play it safe and make a 5v circuit of SSRs, or the like to handle supplying a 24v input.

Pretty sure that is a copy of Proma Elektronika THC, so they have small relays, not SSR on the outputs.
Does it mention explicitly that it uses SSR?
Either way, wire a 100 ohm resistor between Mesa GND and THC GND just to have a bit of safety, wire thc outputs to Mesa inputs and power it on.
If it smokes, get a Mesa THCAD. :)
It should be fine however the situation is, i doubt 24V passing through it will destroy it.
Miss wiring anything will destroy it, regardless if 5V or 24V.

It does state “solid state relay” in the one attachment OP listed (and the manual I linked).
