I think it could  be. Use the included ohmic.comp component.You don't need a seperate power supply or any extra components
As you set the thresholds etc up, use halscope to see the voltages.
When you do your probing, probe towards the plate, then robe away slower until contact breaks and that will be your surface.

because I built a table that has a router plasma and scribe using 2 z axis I was thinking would be nice to reclaim that input pin if I can do it in software in qt dragon the same way as qtplasmac, and as long as im probing conductive materials it should be a very accurate probe sensor

You do need an encoder input to use hypersensing. So it may not be helpful. With plasma there is no need for an encoder so with firmware the encoder is split into 3 x encoder A

I got it working. I used 7i96.dpl for the second encoder, same as my qtplasmac sensing circuit, instead of the connection to the torch its a connection to a electrically isolated touch plate i made out of resin and and a guage block . I used ohmic.comp's arc-on signal as my source, unlinked probe-in created a new signal probe in and sent it to the gui led and motion.probe-input. works really reallywell. what would be a good way of testing its accuracy without buying a bunch of different tool height setters

Great work. 
To test accuracy, try lifting the z axis by the diameter of a milling cutter or some known diameter cylinder and roll under it. Adjust to find the hysteresis and adjust for it.

But as I said, use G38.3 then G38.5 before zeroing.
