Perhaps you need to replace sim_panel.ui with a file from the configuration.

Why are there such difficulties.

Probably because Linux is still a mystery to me.

Copied the two files to /share/qtvcp/screens/woodpecker/, and copied sim_panel.ui to /qtvcp/panels/sim_panel/.

Next error:

Lcnc 2.9 RIP
  • installed qtvcp from the thread pinned to the top of this sub-forum and selected development version ("2")
  • qtvcp was installed in /linuxcnc-dev/share/, not usr/share
  • downloaded the .zip file from your link
  • unzipped to network drive
  • copied unzipped folder to /linuxcnc/configs
  • edited all instances of paths /jura/linuxcnc... to /mill/linuxcnc
  • copied (new) woodpecker.ui and woodpecker_handler.py from linuxcnc/configs to /linuxcnc-dev/share/qtvcp/screens/woodpecker
  • copied (new) sim_panel.ui from linuxcnc/configs to linuxcnc-dev/share/qtvcp/panels/sim_panel
  • started lcnc using launcher: /home/mill/linuxcnc-dev/scripts/linuxcnc

Thank you very much for your time.  I suspected - as usual - it was something on my end.
