QTDragon_hd with mechanical dial tool setter

Never mind, stupid question. All attempts result in massive errors or a segfault crash of LinuxCNC.

QtDragon has not put any extra effort to facilitate a manual setter, but I don't see why you couldn't use one. Could you describe the process you wish to use for setting tool length?

Apologies for not responding sooner. Yes, I would like to be able to set my tool length offsets by lowering Z until the dial on the analog gauge reads 0 and register that position in the tool offsets. Like in Axis this would be the point where one would, as I understand it, press Touch Z in the gui, but there is no Touch Z button in QtDragon. Now I would of suspected that there might be some alternatively named button or a line of some mystical gcode that could be entered that would write the offset into the tool table, but after looking for days, I have found nothing that would explain how this could be done.

I know all my problems would be solved by just getting an electronic tool setter, but at the same time I am baffled by there being no example, or set of instructions that I could find, as to how to do the tool length offsets by hand and analog gauges. It's all push the button stuff and nothing I could find that helps someone understand what to do if there is no button to push.

No one has asked for a specific facility for manual tool setting, which would start with specific procedure. There are a few common tool length strategies.

'Touch Z' usually implies _coordinate_ touch off which QtDragon has buttons for (REF and ZERO).
For tool setting, you can of course manually change the offsets in the tool offset page but also when you are on the tool offset page, the 'HOME' buttons change to 'TOOL' buttons.
Pressing that button will give you several options for setting the tool offset.

The latest QtDragon version at  github.com/persei802/QtDragon_hd has a button for using a manual tool gauge. You use it by selecting Manual Tool Gauge in the Settings page, then lowering the tool until your gauge reads 0 and then press the Manual Touchoff button.

Thank you for your input, but at this time nothing I seem to do works out right. I clearly am missing something but I do not know what that might be. It's wonderful that a new version has a button for using a manual tool gauge, however after trying to follow instructions from this post - www.forum.linuxcnc.org/38-general-linuxc...-do-i-update-to-2-10 - and having the first two things fail with - www.linuxcnc.org bookworm InRelease' doesn't have the component 'master-uspace - I do not dare go any further as I do not want to risk what is working now. It took weeks to get the machine running and I do not want to have to start from scratch again. For now, I can at least set my tool height each time I change a tool by use a shim on the work piece top. A bit of a PTA but better than nothing.
