I now have the atc moving through carousel.

net bit1 carousel.0.sense-0 did the trick , same for parity

It roates the changer but only for a couple tools. And it seems to always take the long way around

Still need to figure out how to tell it what tool is what but were getting somewhere.

Do you have "dir=2" in the loadrt carousel line?
Can you _jog_ the carousel in both directions?

yes i do

Can you _jog_ the carousel in both directions?

yes i can jog both directions with the jog pins and when i do select a tool using m6t1/2/3/4/ it will move both directions , it just only seems to see a couple pockets even though *carousel.0.current position* is counting pockets up to 7.

also worth noting i do not have bit 8 actually hooked up as this machine did not use it from factory and running the extra wire is not something i really want want do , requires removing the tool changer and all associated wiring.

attached is my hal and ini so you can see what i have going on.

Is it using 0 to 7 for pockets 1 to 8? There is a setting for that. But I am on my phone and can’t remember it.

I believe that might be what is happening.

Would this be easier if I went to a pulse and index sensor ? I could use the existing clamp senspr for pulse and i have a spare prox i could add for the home/t1/index

I just did a quick test with the prox switch idea in index mode and it works flawlessly   and since I'm using the clamp switch as my pocket it guarantees its locked every go around , I'm going to do up a little bracket for the index prox.

How can I incorporate this into my homing routine ? So I don't have to manually do m6t1 every startup

sometimes using m6t1/2/3/4/etc it will go to the wrong tool , i just called m6t8 from t2 but it just went back 1 click to t1
the carousel.0.current-position is always accurate with the tool count now tho , just almost like the info is not getting to linuxcnc
