A question associated with this project to integrate a crosshair laser into my machine.
At present the crosshair laser has been successfully integrated into the gvcp panel. My next effort is to allow the user to select the coordinate system to set to zero given the position marked by the crosshairs on the stock. I've added a HAL_Combo box which I can select the coordinate system, however, while monitoring the s32 pin with show_configuration I do not see any change in the value of the pin when selecting a different value. I would like to reference both the label and value columns of the liststore associate with the selection. Is that possible without resorting to a handler?

I've got most of the gladevcp buttons working on my machine; i.e. I can toggle may laser marker, I can move the table so that the quill moves to the desired X/Y coordinates, and I can set the program zero for the current coordinate system.
However, I'm experiencing a SNAFU. When the laser is on, the machine will not jog. Further, I have to turn the laser off then click some other widget before the machine will jog again. What might be the cause and the solution? My implementation requires that I can jog my table until the crosshairs are at the desired X/Y program zero.
These are the HAL commands to toggle the laser:
# *** Crosshair laser Toggle and LED ***
net machine-is-on => gladevcp.crosshair-ctl-active
net crosshair-toggle-out <= gladevcp.crosshair-toggle

Have a look at how Qtplasmac does it. Normally, you would home the machine, turn the laser on and jog the machine. When the laser is in position, press a GUI button that sets the G54 offsets based on the XY difference between the tool and the laser. Then optionally, goto 0,0 to centre the tool over the laser position. You need to save those offsets somewhere, but best to do in the ini file.

A close inspection of the error has [laser] rather that [LASER] which would account for the message if usage is case sensitive.
Otherwise, I have no idea why the ERROR message is being generated.
Also, before I tried to combine both the offset moves and zeroing the DRO, your guidance to home the machine, turn on the laser and then jog to the desired location worked like a charm. However, since I've tried to implement the oword macro, the machine is back to not allowing jogging with the laser on. No idea what may have caused that!

A close inspection of the error has [laser] rather that [LASER] which would account for the message if usage is case sensitive.
Otherwise, I have no idea why the ERROR message is being generated.
Also, before I tried to combine both the offset moves and zeroing the DRO, your guidance to home the machine, turn on the laser and then jog to the desired location worked like a charm. However, since I've tried to implement the oword macro, the machine is back to not allowing jogging with the laser on. No idea what may have caused that!
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

After several attempt to use the _ini() variables in my macro to move the table to the x/y offset location, I've finally just hard coded the values into the macro. While this is not the ideal implementation, it does keep the values in a single location should I need to modify them in the future.
At this point I now have all of my gvcp buttons working except the combo box to select the current coordinate system to use for a given job. I'll work on that option at a later date. The key frustration is the inability to jog once the laser is toggled.
This is particularly interesting in that both the spindle enable and the spindle coolant are enabled via relays as well and neither of them inhibit jogging after they are activated.
Does anyone have any suggestions regarding why the laser might inhibit jogging?
These are the HAL commands associated with the laser:
# *** Crosshair laser Toggle and LED ***
net machine-is-on => gladevcp.crosshair-ctl-active
net crosshair-toggle-out <= gladevcp.crosshair-toggle
