Spindle wiring for Mesa 7I76E and Teco EV series VFD was created by rogerfries
Hi all,
With reckless abandon I tore the heart out of my perfectly good running Bridgeport Mill running Mach 3. It's a home hobby machine so no big deal for some downtime. I've got the machine mostly sorted out under Linux CNC, but I'm having trouble getting my VFD wired back up. It was working with my old PMDX-127/PMDX-107 setup. Just need to get the Mesa 7I76E to command the VFD.

When I turn the spindle on no matter what it seems to be targeting 220 Hz, which might be a tad fast . Even with the spindle override all the way down and a very low S setting. Also Spindle forward does not work, but spindle reverse makes it go forward. Clearly I've miswired it! Before I blow something up, I figured I's ask if anyone knows how I should wire this properly?
Thanks!
Roger

How is the TECO wired to the 7I76E?
I would expect
The TECO VFD doesn't look like it supports ENA/DIR mode so one way around this is to use
two 7I76E field outputs for FWD and REV:
I would expect
7I76E TB4 VFD
1 SPINDLE- 8 or 11 COM
2 SPINDLE OUT 10 AIN
3 SPINDLE+ 9 +10V
two 7I76E field outputs for FWD and REV:
7I76E OUTPUT-X 4 S1
7I76E OUTPUT-Y 5 S2

The work around of using the outputs worked, Thanks!
One problem remains. CW Spindle works well, But CCW spindle speed ramp is reversed. S0 is full speed, S1000 is slower, S2000 is even slower. Any Ideas?
Thanks

change:
net spindle-vel-cmd-rpm => pid.s.command
to:
net spindle-vel-cmd-rpm-abs => pid.s.command

Yes, pncconf will use the -abs spindle command
if you don't check +- voltage
