Backlash?? was created by conicio
After updating from emc2 to linuxcnc I have an issue on my Z axis. It travels i.e. 10 mm in one direction and 7 in the other. I know this is due to a backlash inherent to the trapezoidal thread. Where can I find to fix a backlash problem that I've got with the z axis?
I'm getting stuck  looking around int the stepconf wizard, the .ini and I can't find it.
Help please
Thanks

add BACKLASH = x to the axis[2] section of the ini
x = amount of backlash required

There is a bit more to adding backlash compensation.

Please read the backlash section of the Integrators manual.

3mm backlash seems very unlikely. Do you actually have 3mm of thread pitch? I would imagine that 3mm of wear in the nut would convert it onto a tube...

Normally the weight of the knee or head takes up the Z backlash anyway.
