Will or how do I make this work??

Ubuntu 8.04 wil not shut down.

When I click "shut down" it dose a little dance and just sits there.

How do I get it to go all the way down?

8.04 doesn't shut down completely on most machines.
It is a kernel thing, interestingly (or not!) my 3.5.7-rtai kernel
doesn't either, probably to do with disabling all the bits that
control power, wakeup etc

Just wait for the caps/num/scroll lock lights to flash on the
keyboard and switch it off

I wanted to close out this thread with my results.

I did get 8.04 installed and it has resolved the latency problem.
