Hi!

Has anyone use B&R products before? Probably very pricey.

I really like the PC 2100!

Landcape 21" with buttons.

Unless you can get an absolute guarantee that the touch screen works with whatever linux you are using, don't even consider it.

A lot of touch screens are only supported by the latest distros and some not even then.
If they say it 'comes with drivers', they don't know what they are talking about.

It is probably a lot of money for a screen in a surround with a few switches in it.

Having experienced French corporate 'after care' recently regards a Marantz stereo that went wrong after just a few months, I personally would certainly never buy direct from france and only buy a product from there if it had a good established dealership chain in the UK.

regards

That would need checking up on, if only available for Jessie, that won't help you.

I am baffled by the radio frequency transponder ID unit, what is the point of that?

The actual 3M screen as a monitor can be bought retail for £1000.

I am sure it is nice, but wouldn't be my choice

I would probably use the RFID for staff login/logoff to the cnc machine. That leads nicely onto my next question. Could you have a very simple browser window in Glade/LinuxCNC. I have a touch screen UI I have made for some of our other machines so we can see real time job sheets and upcoming work for that machine. Looks relatively easy. I might have a bash!

login with a RFID it's a awesome idea :cheer:

about the browser I already try this, the same tutorial I think, but the libraries now are not used and can't find the needed version to run this code, so I change to alternative libraries and manage to run the browser!

standalone, when try to implement it on a glade vcp panel, it pop-up in a new window and not on the tab. But after that I never tried to solve that problem and never touch it again...

So, if you want a working browser, let me know.

Thanks JTC.

Next question. When a cnc program starts or finishes, could we trigger a URL in the browser window to let my database know a part has started machining and when it has also finished?

yes it's possible to trigger and do anything , you only need to program it
nice monitor , but far over priced for what it is
you could make your own far cheaper , after all we are engineers arn't we ....

from what i see it's all pnp , flat screen touch display , a small pc , power supply , and buttons and a case
rfid is standard on some sbc';s , but a plugin card is only a few dollars .

I'll try and find a header less sbc. I would like to make a sealed unit up with IP6X connectors for cables etc.
