Trying to enable autologin was created by Greolt

Done lots of searching but not getting there.
Enter this into terminal.
sudo gedit /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
It then asks for my password, but it's like the keyboard is disabled. I type but nothing happens.
Sorry for the novice questions.

That's normal. It is so that people don't even know how many characters are in your password.

				Thanks
So I tried both,
sudo gedit /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
and
sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
Both returned "command not found"

If this is wheezy I think the only stock graphic mode editor is "mousepad", so
sudo mousepad /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
should work
					sudo mousepad /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
should work

OK I tried that and got the same result.
However I first opened Lightdm.conf with Mousepad via the GUI
Made the changes but it won't let me save those changes
Says, "can't open file to write"
That was why after further searching I tried the terminal as stated above

				OK I don't know why
sudo mousepad /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
did not work but have discovered that
"sudo mousepad" opens mousepad with more authority.
Testing changes now
OK that worked. Thanks fro the help.
If I need that much assistance for such a simple matter, it really makes me wonder if I am the right sort of user for LinuxCNC
EDIT:
Discovered that my error was not leaving a space between "mousepad" and "/etc"
Obviously not accustomed to the rules or syntax with terminal

I struggled to like Debian but could not get past all the issues like your having so I asked enough people and came up with a LinuxMint Mate with LinxuCNC.
The setup script:
gnipsel.com/files/linuxmint/setup.sh
The step by step instructions:
gnipsel.com/files/linuxmint/mint-emc.txt
I now like LinuxMint with the Mate desktop.
