Does the 8300 have a Pci slot as well? some seem to mention it and others don't

I have a bout 4 machines to set up and may just use the Parallel port for one of them so would be good to have all options

The USDT does not have a parallel port, the SFF model does(header)
The USDT has no PCIE slot (well it does have a MiniPCIE slot for a wireless card) The SFF has 3 low profile PCIE slots and one low profile PCI slot

So is the 8000 not a good one to use then?

There is a chance that I will want to use Gscreen or one of the touch screen options.

Am I better just getting a newer J1900 or mini itx with i3/i5?

A 8300 (the most common one with a I5/3570) is nearly 3 times as fast as a J1900
This may not matter unless you have very dense backplots you need to see

A new I5 would be as fast or faster but cost a lot more (the motherboard alone would
cost as much as a complete Elite 8300 =~ $80 with shipping) The down side of a used
computer is that there's no warranty, so if it dies, you are out of luck (though parts are
very cheap for corporate desktops)

We have used a lot of the dells and most work great. I think the 780 is good - avoid the 790 though.

Just wondering if someone could expand on this comment?

Thanks,

Marty.

Yep, me too, I got some 980 SFF and these are really good. What is the problem with the 790? There are models that do have 4 pci/pcie slots, whicht would be very nice.

Well, somehow I missed this post. I have a 790. Would you be able to elaborate on the problems with the 790?

See my post on the Optipllex 790. Not sure anything is wrong or not. I'm getting different results with different test methods though.
