Hello scotta, you are such a great programmer.
These days, my NVEM V5 RT1052 control card cannot connect to Mach3, and then I found your post on building linuxcnc on Google. The post shows how to flash Remora firmware on NVEM V2. I spent two days reading the entire post of 230 pages.
But since this is not my specialty, it took me two days to install debian12 linuxcnc.
I also want to revive my NVEM V5. I want to embrace linuxcnc and abandon Mach3. I need your help. I now have two ST-LINK V2, exactly the same. I changed how to flash Remora in the first step. After the V2 soldering pins are connected to ST-LINK, the control card does not light up the signal light as you showed on YouTube. It must be connected to 24V power supply.
I found that many people mentioned this problem in the 230-page reply. I hope to get your help. I want to record the whole process as detailed as possible and then show it to those who need it.

After a long time I managed to compile Remora for the cloud, but it does not enable the emergency button, I believe the manufacturing is correct, the ping is 10.10.10.10, I read a little and saw that I had to play the .tx file to the cloud, it gives a timeout warning for error traffic and does not play the file, reading a little more I saw that there is a short window to be able to play this file, I tried several times to turn it off and try to play the file as soon as it is turned on and reconnected, but without success, can someone help me?

Remora/Ec500 now running a Denford Triac Mill. Homing/limits/emergency stop/axis and spindle sorted. Need a relay to wire in the coolant pump.
I originally had this running on a cheap eBay BOB using the denford drivers. When I switched over to the EC500 I could not get the driver working correctly with the EC500. After many attempts with different IC and board configurations I gave up trying to use the denford drivers and bought DM556T drivers. Still on the denfords motors.
Monitor is a cheap Amazon touchscreen, worked without any messing around.

I'm not to sure what you mean by the cloud ? You have to change the address to 10.10.10.10. once changed, ping the address and see do you get a response (and how long it took).

I don't know any motor controller that has such inputs, but some 5-24 V work.
If problem, I use PC817 optocouplers without any resistors.
They have poor parameters, but only these want to work for me ...

The EC500 has strange "differential" outputs 3.3 V.I originally had this running on a cheap eBay BOB using the denford drivers. Thanks tuxcnc, ya I couldn't get it to work. The final IC's I used was a 26ls32 to single end the differational signal. Into a 74htc14 to boost the signal to 5v. And then into a uln2003 IC to pull down the 12v denford pulses. I was getting a lot of noise. I tried pulling up/down resistors and capacitors to try and negate it. But didnt work. These dm566 drivers seem to work fine with the ec500. I'll have to do some more testing.

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to use the NVEM V5 board with LinuxCNC, running the Remora RT1052 firmware.
---
✅ What has already been done:
1. The Remora RT1052 source code was downloaded directly from the official GitHub repository.
2. Inside the remora-rt1052/source/ folder, a new folder named default was created.
3. Inside the default folder, two files were created and configured:
defaultConfig.c
defaultConfig.h
4. These files were manually edited to define fixed pins for the NVEM V5, with the following configuration:
4 axes (X, Y, Z, A)
2 encoders
The remaining I/O as digital inputs and outputs
5. The project was successfully compiled using MCUXpresso IDE, generating a .bin file.
6. The .bin file was flashed correctly to the NVEM V5 using pyOCD, with no errors.
7. On the computer, the network interface was configured with a static IP, and the board responds to ping.
---
⚠️ What has not been done:
❌ The upload_config.py script was not used (the NVEM V5 does not support it).
❌ No remora.conf file was used.
❌ The HAL pins have not yet been defined in the .ini and .hal files, since the pins are fixed in the .bin.
---
❓ Current issue:
Even after all the steps above, LinuxCNC does not enable the machine (emergency state remains active). The NVEM board does not seem to start communication with the host, even though the IP is correctly configured and it responds to ping.
---
❓ Questions:
1. Is there any minimum requirement in the .hal or .ini files for LinuxCNC to properly initiate communication with fixed firmware?
2. What else could prevent the machine from exiting emergency, even with the correct fixed .bin?
3. Has anyone successfully used the NVEM V5 with fixed pins in the firmware, without using remora.conf?

Hi, please share your LinuxCNC hal and ini files. Is the remora ethernet component loaded?

hi, i'm new to this cnc building and followed your guide on page 165 and was able to flash the firmware to the ec500v5 board but i'm a bit stuck at the moment.
i'm tring to complete step 8 install eth component but i have abolutely no clue what you mean with this step nor where to find the folder.
