Embedded EMC2

I'm looking forward to start working on the project for creating an embedded system running EMC2 alone. It will be runing on top of a embedded linux with the RTAI patched kernel.

I've been reading the source code and documentation for a few days, my question is the following in order to manage the outputs in my custom hardware, the only thing I need to do is to create a HAL driver to drive it according to it's own specifications of the physical pins, right? Did I get it?
