i personly like more to touch the tools not like HAAS
all to one coordinate
insted i use a Reference tool
that is calibrated Usaly the Drill Start bit this is zero (100mm in length From Holder) For manuell clearence mesurering
and i also use a Differend Cordinalt system for the mesuring G59
BUT this is User Behavior
the tool table so gots then the rest ofsets
BENEFIT
You can simply measer a Drill in the holder with a caliber if it is longer then 100 toolofset +
other toolofset minus with no touch off ONLY for non length critical bits

You can mesure precise and take it in the table without touchprobe at toolbreak
you got rid of the standard coordinats from workpice ofsets and ... as it got its own toolmesurer cordinate
BUT it is a Behavior Factory related

So as i am trying to follow the steps your link provided me ive come across another issue, im not sure if it something that i did or it is our system but i have not option in my drop down menu for (t tool table). i attached a photo as well.

Manual tool change put the tool in the spindle and do a Tn M6 G43 where n is the tool number in the MDI window.

Tool changer just do a Tn M6 G43 in the MDI tab to load the tool.

Verify that Machine > Touch off to fixture is selected.

Jog the tool to the fixture point and using the dowel method position the Z end of the tool.

Verify that the Z axis radio button is the selected axis in the Manual Control Tab

Press the Touch Off button and select T Tool Table from the drop down list box for Coordinate System.

Leave the number at 0.0 and press OK

To touch off a tool in 2.8 you click on Tool Touch Off, I need to update that tutorial, I think I did that around 2.4 or so.

It was too easy to forget to select "T for tool" and end up messing up all the offsets, so a separate tool button was added.
