axis direction was created by j.clark91
hello everyone,

i've managed to set up all the axis and homing directions okay and tested the repeatability with a clock while jogging,
everything perfect!

my problem is when i was trying a program out to test the auto tool measure program i've been messing with is that the direction of the y and x axis are inverted,

the jog buttons move the machine to the right direction so x axis + to the right and - to the left, y axis - to the front and + to the back.
the offsets for the g54 location are both plus so it should move into the right direction but when i go into MDI and type G0 G90 G54 X10. Y10. the relative postions are right but its moved -10. in both axis,

anyone had this before?

thank you

Jamie

Solved my fault while writing I’ve realised my axis were wrong and needed inverting

I’ve changed my .hal file to invert the direction and then .ini file to still reference in the right direction

Hi
it is best to get a ic of paper with the Coordinate system on it on the table // Tool

and also to replace wirering to get the Real non inverting Axis motor movements
so the interpreter does not always need to change the things
this leads somtimes in errors or faults Following error
loss of speed and precision and oin microstepping also torque

all to be considerd as a mashine builder

The easyiest way to invert axis direction is in the .ini file, eg.
STEP_SCALE=320
or
STEP_SCALE=-320
No rewiring needed.

Nope.
To change the stepper motor direction by changing the wiring ( not recommended since it can be done in several ways in Linuxcnc ), you have to change ONLY 2 wires of one of the coils.
By changing both coils ( 4 wires ) you end up with the same direction of spinning !

You can also invert the DIR pin in Linuxcnc.
For servo systems you can also change the OUTPUT and ENCODER.
