MDI history

MDI history was created by Rick G
On one of my computers I have both a lathe and a mill setup with EMC.
I have separate folders for each and can launch to either machine with no problem. This has worked well for me.
I did notice however that the MDI history is not unique to each machine but in fact is the same.
Where is the MDI history stored? Can we name what file to store the history to keep it separate for each machine?

Rick,

I did find that it is in your home directory in a hidden file .axis_mdi_history.

I don't see or know of any way to pick a different file for different configs.

The old hidden file routine, that's the second time this week I fell for that.
Thanks for the info John.
It would be nice if the file was located in the current machine folder to avoid the problem.
I wonder how many people use more than one configuration on a computer.

Thanks
Rick

I do.

From discussion on the IRC channel last night we might well see that fie moving in the next release.

Did someone make some progress on that? I know jepler made a quick stab at it and it broke the ini read...

I know it has confused me in the past as I usually have several different configs on on computer at one time.

Rick,

psha will make an update to master will allow the MDI history to be local to your configuration directory. I tested it this morning.

Did this ever make it into a release? I'm running 2.8.0Pre1 and the MDI history still shares .axis_mdi_history.

I looked in the 2.8 docs and didn't see anywhere that mentions it.

Thanks
J

Hello John,

On further investigation it is possible to change the MDI history location, at least for axis.
It is an INI option.
[DISPLAY]
MDI_HISTORY_FILE = PATH
