Build rack tool change with classic ladder or.. was created by Pro_El
Hello, i investigate long time what path to take to build tool change.I am new to LinuxCnc so sorry for stupid questions.. I use Mesa board 7i77 and linuxcnc 2.8 with all updates. Everything is working like it should on Maho NC50 and now time for tool-change..
I now that remapping M code and G code should be right way but i cannot figure out how to do it.. so many unknown..
I am very familiar with Ladder logic so this is my first step i want to try, but i have a lot of unknown steps i need to do..
First how to automatically move to axis to zero position before tool-change?? can i do it with classic ladder?? i think not
Second if you recommend to continue with classic ladder, then when M6 shown on gcode what output or register will initialize the start of tool-change procedure and what input will wait for the competition of the same procedure and to continue with gcode..
Great Community, hope to be part of..

why dont you simply go with M6 remap and put a ngc that loads the tools to the position

You cannot move an axis within classicladder. If you dont need to then you will be ok otherwise as PI7i92 stated remap M6 with NGC.
Check the threads as there are a couple doing it now.
Some mandatory reading:
remap config github
remapping docs

A rack tool changer requires axis movement, which is very easy with a G-code remap and next-to-impossible with Ladder.
So I would say that the answer is certainly a G-code remap.
There is even a sample config on your hard-drive already.
Open the config picker and go to sim->axis->remap->racktoolchanger
