There is no free lunch: without special hardware your latency will deteriorate.
As www.sercos.org/certification shows, Sercos expects you to certify any new developed Sercos device.

All these field bus is have deterministic capacity. CC-link ie & powerlink ie not require special hardware at all, sercos3 and ethercat require special chip on slave side.
I need to know better if sercos3 with this new dress completely opensources has by chance abandoned the special slave side chip ....

Maybe the Mesa Smart-Serial interface will grow into a standard? It is already used by more than just Mesa hardware,
STMBL
uses it too.
