Mesa 7i29 wiring an capacitors with 2KW servos was created by nursum
Hi,
I'am running a big 4-achses milling centre with EMC2 and its old Simens drives. Now I'am planning to use the 7i29 drivers. Who have experiance with that cards and Motors with 2KW power each?
In Germany we have 230V AC and not 110V so I'have to transform the power...
Mesa writes in its manual that it is important to use the right size of capacitors... are these capacitors located at the source or the output of the 7i29?
Is a separate break unit necessary? How do you handle the complete power system to get less nois and no overvoltage?
Ingo

Do you have the motor ratings available? The 7I29 may be too small for this application
(it may also be too low voltage if your servos ran off line voltage before)
Depending on how close you are to the maximum 7I29 voltage and the power
supplies output capacitance you may need an external brake circuit

the motor have maximum 163V with 13.5A and a power of 1,9KW. Actually I'am not shure what inuctivity the motor has..

Bump.
An application note for the 7i29 discussing suggested circuits for nominal 150v/10A servomotors would be quite handy.
