Does Mesa 5i20 require +5V/GND on TB1 was created by Will Gilmore
I looked through the 5i20 manual and it doesn't show that connector or mention it in the text. Does TB1 need +5V/GND? If so, should it come from computer power supply or the external 5V power supply I have set up for the 7i37TA and the 7i48? Or should they all run from the computer power supply?

Thanks.

TB1 on the 5I20 is a 5V output
Note that the 7I37should run fine with cable 5V as it draws so little 5V power
The 7I48 and attached encoders may draw substantial 5V power so it often needs external 5Vpower
The 5I20s TB1 can be used as a source of this power for the 7I48

Does this apply to the 7i33 as well? And if I use external power on TB1 does this isolate the computer from I/O on the 7i33?

I am using a 24VDC supply for all digital I/O on the 7i37

Its really only needed on the 7I33 if your encoders draw a fair amount of power (say more than 150 mA each) or if you have along flat cable. The 7I33 IO is buffered but not isolated from the PC
