Mesa 7i77 and old Copley / Anilam amps was created by jj89074
I am retrofitting a cnc mill that had an Anilam controller with Copley velocity amps. The amps are a little different in that they use a "lockout" pin instead of an "enable" pin.
With nothing connected to the "lockout" pin, it stays high and the amp is enabled. The Anilam control did not even connect to this pin (pins 8 on the amps).
Connecting the amp's "lockout" pin to "com" (pulling it down) will disable the amp.
My question is: do I connect the ENAx- pins to "com" and the ENAx+ pins to "lockout" and somehow configure the 7i77 to act as normally open contacts when enabled and closed when disabled? How do I do this?
Thanks,
Jim

For normally enabled amps I would just use a relay with a normally closed contact
that disables the drives until the relay is driven by a 7I77 field output.
I should add that any scheme that makes the OPTO enable outputs normally on
is not very safe as they would be off (drive enabled) if the 7I77 was not powered
Its very likely that the original control has a relay with normally closed contacts
for enabling the drives only when the relay is powered
that disables the drives until the relay is driven by a 7I77 field output.
