oddly I had tried that last night with no avail. so combination of things worked then
ini
[SPINDLE_9]
OUTPUT_SCALE = 3600.0
OUTPUT_MIN_LIMIT = 0
OUTPUT_MAX_LIMIT = 3600.0

Hal
net spindle-vel-cmd-abs => hm2_5i25.0.7i77.0.1.analogout5
changed to
net spindle-vel-cmd-rpm-abs => hm2_5i25.0.7i77.0.1.analogout5

reverse works without issue.

I will probably add that relay Dabit suggested for the spindle on. When I hit stop the VFD does not set all the way down to zero. Probably some noise or feedback created. If I stop and start the machine the VFD is back to zero. But that is an easy fix.
Thank you both very much.

I'm having trouble with how to wire up the vfd ( 2.2kw) I only need fwd and speed control. Using 5i25/7i77. Does anyone have a config that will make this work? I'm using the last output on tb8 to relay the power on to the vfd.....is this correct. It powers up the relay and turns the vfd on but now I need to control the on/off and rpm with linuxcnc.

Do you have a spare analogue output from the 7i77 to control the VFD speed?

Alternatively, driving the HY VFDs with Modbus is pretty trivial, though not hard-realtime as it has to pass through USB. (typically)

yeah got plenty room. planning on using tb5 ground and aout5. this seems logical to me.....Do I need any other signals?

Another GPIO for a direction signal, as a minimum, unless you don't need to reverse the spindle. (and it is entirely possible that you don't)

Just fwd is all I need. How about the power up of the vfd as I mentioned above. I have it set so that when you hit the spindle button in axis the relay gives power to the vfd. Is this correct or should there be some kind of enable like on the servo drives.....I'm worried that the way I have it now the entire vfd unit will be powering on and off alot. Should I use the enables on tb5 to handle this somehow?
