OK, now I have decided I will go with LCNC even on my milling machine so I will be ordering to both my lathe and milling machine some new Mesa boards = 2x 7i76e and 2x 7i85S + accessories.

This means no more Mach3 on those machines.

Will try to update both rebuilds as they progress here 93x57r.se/tecno-cnc/CNC%20menu.html

Cheers
Bengt

Received my Mesa shipment today, now it is time to start rebuilding my milling machine.

The lathe will have to wait but is next in line.

Happy camper received very well packaged boards from Mesa.

Cheers

So I am getting closer to power up but still some wires to be connected.

What exactly do I need as regards LCNC to run these 7i76E, now I have the standard Wheezy ISO installed.
Reading the forum it seems that I have wrong install?

If so, how to do this install to be correct? Download a new ISO or can this *update/upgrade* be done online?

This old fart is a bit confused on what is needed.

Yup, been there done that and started again. (well started again many times actually)

You need the preemptive install as per this link
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/getting-start...nate_install_methods

Personally, I wold recommend cncnoob's excellent tutorial on this forum and go straight to Linux Mint. Thats where I ended up due to lack of driver support. With what you've achieved, you really should be able to do this quite easily.

Why Mint and not Stretch that seems to be latest?

Because I am 2-3 days out of date as Stretch and LinuxCNC is that new. I forgot there is a new test ISO install for it. Might be worth a try.
