if you unzip the linked file, you will see (in configs/hostmot2)
A set of firmware files (filename.bit) and corresponding
pinout files (filename.pin)
The pinout files are text files that list the modules, and pinout of the
corresponding firmware files.
As mentioned earlier in this thread:
"The 7i76e_7i76x1_5abobD.bit config has a PWMGen on pin 1 of expansion
connector P1 and 7i76e_7i76x1_5abobpD.bit has 3 PWMGens on P1 pins
1,3,5 (DB25 pins 1,2,3)
Note that if you use the expansion pins directly, its best to use a series resistor of
say 220 Ohms to prevent negative inputs from damaging the input clamp diodes. "

OK, very clear explanations, as per usual from you.
I'm going to study these files in details.
Thank you so much for spending your precious time helping us.
Best regards

I currently use all functions of my 7i76ed, and I need to add 1 fast PWM from expansion port.
Therefore I have added an ordinary opto-coupled interface board on EXP1, and I have chosen configuration file 7i76e_7i76x1_7i78x1D that adds to my current configuration:
1 PWM
4 more StepGens
1 more QCount
I made a backup of my 7i76ed board, and I'm now ready to update it with this config.
But I don't catch the difference between "--write" and "--program" commands.
So, prior to light on the fire, could you please tell me which command should I use?

I have no idea what --program does, never used it.
For flashing firmware i always use --write, and i have a lot of Mesa boards, flash them at least once or twice a month, sometimes several times in a day.
