Servo amp enable wiring

Servo amp enable wiring was created by mmt
Built many systems but first time wth 7i77.

My Glentek amps are configured for Type A active low in the manual see attachment.
My question is in the Mesa 7i77 manual it says for the enable to connect "for active low" ..... "ENAN- to control power ground".
Does that mean to connect it to the 165VDC negative that powers the amps ?

Thanks,
Kent

No. there should be a control input ground that is not the same as power ground

Note that those drives do not have enable inputs but rather disable inputs
(you need to close a circuit to disable the drives)

So need a normally on device like a relay with NC contacts to ground
the disable inputs when LinuxCNC is not controlling the drives

Thank you for the response. I would rather not use an additional relay if I don't have to.
Looking at the first attachment above for the glentek drive which configuration would you recommend C or D?

"C" as it requires no power supply connections

OK so just to confirm Glenktek dip switches set to ---- requires grounding of input to ENABLE the amplifier (pull up, active high) so ENAN- will connect to the drive enable input and ENAN+ will connect to the 24vdc power supply that powers the 7i77 (field power) ?

Thank you

No, ENA- to Drive ground, ENA+ to Drive Enable
(as the red circled section of the 7I77 manual suggests)

I guess Im a little confused as Type C of the Glentek says active high and the red circled section says active low. The sentence before the red circled one says "for active high"

Thanks for your time. Normally I would not be so worried but the 7i77 manual says wrong polarity will damage it.

Type C says grounding the input enables the drive so
ENA- to Drive ground, ENA+ to Drive Enable would be correct

Well ENA- to Drive Ground and ENA+ to Drive Enable didn't work and now the drive wont even power up anymore.

The drive will not power up even if you remove the enable wiring?
What drive pin did you use for ground? The drive manual should show
what ground pin needs to be used for enable (_NOT_ power ground )
