7i43 mesaflash

hi, I'm trying to restart a 7i43 that I had in a drawer for years, I have an mb iei g410 with a native parallel port at 0x0378 but the command    sudo mesaflash --device 7i43 --epp --addr 0x378 --readhmid
blocks me completely the pc and I have to shut it down brutally. what can it be?

Not sure what the mesaflash issue is, was the 7i43 jumpered to boot from
flash?  it would need to to use mesaflash in that way, unless you
preceded the --readhmid command with a --program command.

Note that you do not need mesaflash to run LInuxCNC on the 7I43,
the 7i43 driver writes the FPGA firmware at startup and does not
use the built in firmware (so the 7I43 needs to be jumpered to _not_
boot from flash when used with LinuxCNC)

I tried mesaflash to see if the card was seen, also because starting linuxcnc still blocks the pc.
Jumpers are all fine since replaced with 5i23 hasn't been used since.
I think it's a motherboard problem... I set 0x0378 epp irq7 I don't think there's anything else to set.

Yes, might be a motherboard/parallel port issue, but using mesaflash, you would need to
--program the 7I43 first before --readhmid. If -- program fails then it's likely the motherboard

i tried the last card and it worked!
I updated the bios and now it works fine.
