Hi to all looking for some guidance, please
I'm planning a conversion of a manual lathe this isn't my first conversion but my first lathe conversion
and first project with Linuxcnc
simple 2 axis, limit switches, and spindle encoder with at least one jog wheel maybe 2 I think 7I96S STEP/IO Step & dir plus I/O card will be ok am I wrong

Given your requirement you should be fine with the 7i96s.

(There's probably many more since the 7i96 and 7i96s are very popular choice)
