Does anyone know a source to get a mesa 7i97 analog servo board. I have been waiting patiently since there is supposed to be a new version released but I am now needing my machine to be running instead of just wanting so I am looking to purchase one sooner rather than later.

7i96S+(7i85 or 7i85S)+7i83
That makes something near 7i97, just check number of analog/encoder/etc.
And can be found readily, mostly.

7i76E to 7i85S you need a short IDC26 pin to DB25 pic cable, eusurplus has those and are cheap ( or 7i85 with no S, in your case may be better as you can add more SSerial boards)
7i76E to 7i83 through a network cable, CAT5 or CAT6 or CAT5E
7i85S (or 7i85) to 7i84 through a network cable, CAT5 or CAT6 or CAT5E
7i76E will probably need to be flashed with new firmware, might be already included on the Mesa website with the downloads for it.
7i83 and 7i84 do not need any flashing, they just work, but will need to be added in hal, most probably PncConf will get you very close to whatever you would need.

eusurplus sugested me to use a 7i80hdt in combination with a 7i48 to control a 6axis analog system  this board are available
can linux cnc handle these combination right out of the box  ?  a need for  firmwear update ?
on the 7i80 are 72 I/O available  devided on the 3 pinheaders  1 header will be used for the connection to the  7i48
are the  72 I/O stil available on the  2 leftover  or only 48 ?
do i need for  the I/O an addition cart 7i84 who had  32 I and 16 O can it be connet as one  ?
