Hello everyone,
I'm new to Linuxcnc and cnc in general so I hope you could help me with my first retrofit
I bought this lathe with a broken Fagor 8050 controller, its got Simodrive 611 modules with siemens motors, analog control +/-10V and they seems to work as I tested them with simple 1.2V battery
I bought mesa cards 5i25 and 7i77 and started wiring it. I don't have wiring diagram for this machine but everything looks quite simple
I wanted to reuse existing cables and I run into first problem, differential input +/-10V for both X,Z axis and spindle is in one 6-wire (3 pair) shielded cable, where to I connect this shield? Or do I need to change to separate cables with separate shields for each input?

quite nice projekt
the shield is always against mashine Gnd
you only need to BRIDGE the 24V Gnd
but i think you use the 611 ER 24V out to the 7i77

yu shoudt folow the
SERVO tuning example at gnipsel.com

Use a DVM and check for continuity of that shield to the drives or machine gnd, if it is wired to any of them do also check the negative side of the power supply that the 7i77 is going to be powered by, if all of them are wired together it will not matter much if you wire them anywhere or not, but you could wire them to the gnd on the Mesa board.
Almost always I leave one side hanging, not connected to anything to prevent ground loops.

shield was connected only at the old controller end, so now it's not connected to anything
do I wire it to TB1 GND pin or one of TB5 GND pins or somewhere else?

for the analog signals:

TB5 7I77 AOUT --> DRIVE IN+
TB5 7I77 AGND --> DRIVE IN- and shield

(shield should be terminated only at 7i77 end)

thanks guys, I think I have it working now,
cables are dangling and I don't have lights yet but I already had few jobs needed to be done
I still didn't touch on PID tuning but it seems to work ok at least from what I can tell

test of threading, 3mm pitch 400rpm

That's a bit of monster!

Is that a D1-nose on the outboard end of the spindle?

Hello Mr Radom :) I have a simular Padavoni cnc (Labor E200). I cannot get hold of the original ore simular parameter files for the Sinumerik 805 controller.

So i have 2 questions here:

Do you have backup of parameters from your machine? if so, any chance we can buy them from you?
I could use them and adapt them to our machine.

Option nr 2: Retrofit this machine with Linuxcnc. if so, is there any chanse you can provide me with setup files/parameters used here?

Best Regards,
Ronny
