It is using winMC so maybe? It looks like a black screen so I think it is the original CBC program that the machine uses and the manual refers to

Not using LinuxCNC.
But pictures might help a lot, as AaronCNC noted.
Pictures can be uploaded here on the forum also.
When the reply editor is opened, just under there is a button named "Attachments", click on that, then on "Add files", select the files (multiple files can be selected at once by keeping CTRL or SHIFT pressed), then click "open".
Attach the files before writing a reply as the editor tends to delete stuff when uploading attachments.

First answer the following questions
Can you jog the machine?
Can you home the machine?
Can you get the spindle to run?

In detail explain all that you can do with the machine as is.

When you attempt to have the turret rotate is there any sounds buzzing or just silence?

Lets hope its operator error if not you will need to open the back of the lathe up and use a multimeter to start probing out the turret control board. If you are a student i would advise to get the teacher involved and if you school has a robotics team they may be able to help. I am attaching the electrical schematics for this machine see page 20 for the turret control board.

Read this document, about tool offset

Here is all we know, we can run gcode. We can jog and reference the machine, we can do single blocks of code and a few tool offsets, the motor is working because wit is going a counter rotation to keep the turret in place, we can also move the spindle, every key under works on both the computer and machine keyboard, the only key that won’t do anything is the turret index and anything by we don’t have like blow on and off and such

if you manually turn the turret to be out of position / between tools will it set it to the correct position?
What happens when you try and follow the instructions i linked for tool offsets?

I would advise you to ask your question in the following places.
But know they do not take kindly to people who make bad threads and spam.
Make sure your post has all the info you can provide about what you have and what works and what wont work.

First is apply to the emco user group and post a message asking for help with all the mentioned info.
groups.io/g/Emco-CNC-Users/topics

Second.
Make a thread here
www.cnczone.com/forums/emco-cnc-machines/

Third (this place is a bit strict and this is the absolute smallest machine they will even acknowledge, dont play dumb here! read over your message several times. keep misspelling to a minimum and be very clear dont rush type.)
