Hello all I have recently purchased a Leadwell vmc 760ap mill that has a mitsubishi meldas 520amr control, it was one of those purchases that say it was all in working order when removed from work site but turns into a nightmare to get running. after speaking to some professionals in the repair industry they have said that my best bet is to go the Linuxcnc or mach3 route. I am not sure why but i am not keen on the mach3 way  and have been told I might be able to use linuxcnc with a PCI board (posable from yurtaev.com ) and get away with not needing to buy new drivers and servos/stepper motors etc.

I was really hoping for some help and advice on what is involved for me to do this and what i will need to buy to make it happen
the machine has the following

Spindle drive unit  MDS-A-SP-220
3 x MDS-A-SVJ-20
Control system FCA520AMR
the main spindle is 15hp and other motors are 2hp

I can add some photos if that helps anyone more
any advice or help would be fantastic and very well received

many thanks

There are positive reports about the Yurtaev interface cards on this forum, and the creator himself is on this forum as "dm17ry"

The yurtaev.com web site isn't responding to me right now (22/5/23) but I am behind a few layers of firewall so it might be that.

hi! yes, a few similar machines have been retrofitted. those servos/spindle are fully supported.

the website is hosted somewhere in uk, seems to be down currently:

www.yurtaev.com (104.161.79.162)
Access to this virtual server has been restricted. The node is currently under maintenance. Please try again later

there's not much to choose from:
YMDS2P PCI card will handle MDS drives. it also has 12 inputs and 8 outputs, but usually those are left unused and all I/O is wired to a number of remote I/O modules YI16/YO16P.
unfortunately currently i'm out of stock with i/o, but hope to have new 32-point modules instead in the near future...
I/O modules connect to the main card via YEX3 daughterboard with isolated RS-485.

on the photo i see 2 x QX531(?) I/O cards. each provides 64 ins and 48 outs. but on the next photo there're about 60 inputs and 23 relays. not sure where the rest is going, probably to the operator panel keys/lights?
we're working on a similar machine (ARGO A-1) and haven't yet used 32ins/16outs... confused with the TDC 450 from the nearby thread :)
can't promise when i get the i/o available, sorry. a few weeks at least.

hehe, just got an email from the hosting provider:

11:50 22nd May 2023 Despite the best efforts the engineer on site was unable to recover the array, the card has been replaced and we will proceed to provide new virtual servers for customers ...  to self-restore from their backups.

luckily i have a backup, but it may take a while i guess...

sorry to here your provider has not managed to fix the fault leaving you with clean up duty that is never a good use of time but necessary all the same.
