Have set up my machine using emc2 and figured out a few bumps in my system but seem to have 2 problems.

1. I cant configure my drivers to the touch screen as i do not know linux that well to aid the problem, and google seems to help me brake the darn linux and force me to re install everytime... im using latest build of linuxCNC 2.4.7 and the monitor i have acuired is a LG flatron L1730SFN

2. When I try to calibrate the motor's it seem to ask me to change step per ...not that clued up on how to calculate the difference or find an easier way to calibrate it. in mach the calibration is easier to do. you go to calibration and tell it to move x mm and ask you to enter the measured travel and it calcululates and configure your step per. is there a way to change it so that i can get the mach3 way to calibrate or even easier?

it would be much apreciated if anyone can aid me in those 2

for your problem with step setup , we need to know a bit more information , what stepper driver are you using etc , and any pulley ratio between the motors and shafts etc

stepconf is your saviour in setting up , and use the test axis button to test distance traveled

i figured out how to use calibration of the axis after it is set.. if im correct it is (tune x distance to travel) / actual distance traveled... setting up the driver gonna let you know about outcome atm the xy is swapped and it is inverted

basicaly the touch screen needs a few steps...

1. xy needs swapping
then
2. y needs to be inverted
after that
3. recalibrate the screen.

luckily there no jumping that i can pick up from

carefully read this post , their may be a solution , maybe not , i dont use the specific screen you are using , however the file posted , worked first time for a number of people
with touch screens , but as you are aware Linux can be quite time consuming , i would suggest a clean install , and perhaps go from their .

usualy a few configuration lines in udev does the trick to invert or change screen etc , however i have never had to use them , so i may have been lucky

searching the net for ububtu and touch screen brings quite a few resuls
