LinuxCNC isn't so far in the shadows that Autodesk don't supply a postprocessor

It is just not named properly. LOL!

yoshimitsuspeed:
you will find Linuxcnc people ,and moderators spend a lot of their time developing for linuxcnc , so it's not always about Money , to get things done .
we all trade time and assist everyone , and in some cases , considerable time to take things further, some are paid yes as it encroaches on their profession . this may be contrary to other forums , but it works ! ,
ultimately paid or not , it all gets filtered into the mainstream more times than not .

if there is something you feel needs adding or maybe a bug , then make a post about it , and make your point . ideally if a bug , post full code showing the possible error , and the details why you think that .
and it will be looked at .

Just because you may not get an immediate answer , does not mean someone is not looking , some areas take a lot of debugging to be correct .

as an instance i'm currently looking at Pathpilot , for a number of forum members .
most moderators have there specific areas of interest , which tend to get looked at first .

and in some cases it can take 2 maybe 3 moderators to solve a problem , in the background , even if the problem seems easy on the surface .

so don't be disheartend if you feel your being neglected just bump the thread , or simply ask .

hope this helps .

I have to agree with a lot of what has been said here, i try to read every day what is new here and if anyone needs help that i can assist with, but sometimes life just gets in the way and i might get a whole week without reading anything here or anywhere on the web.
Now to the actual purpose of this post: i am willing and able to help anyone on the phone or e-mail or here. I would prefer if you would post the question or problem here and send me an sms on the phone to let me know of it, since the e-mail notifications come rare and far between. That way you or anyone here would get a quick response and every one else could find and read it in case they need help with the same thing.
The problem with the above is someone can potentially overdue the urgency thing and call or send 20 sms before i get to the computers, so it can get annoying rapidly.
Moving on, i have a mobile phone that i carry daily and 2 other mobiles that i don't bother much with, i use LINE- app for free calls and video calling, video and picture sending and the sound quality is just superb over wifi or 4G, i have always several installed and working Linuxcnc machines ( mostly plasma, styro cutters, and mills ) and just in case, several HDD and USB with Linuxcnc installed and ready to go.
If anyone wants to give it a try, let me know here and i will PM my number, it is the same number used with LINE.
I live in Kosovo so albanian is my native language, i am proficient in English, Serbo-Croatian, Czech-Slovak, and German, also i do a tiny bit of Bulgarian and Italian, but not sufficiently for what is needed here.
Regards,
Tom.

I can understand yoshimitsuspeed's point.

But I have to admit that I feel guilty after asking a question and getting what seems to be unbelievably patient help. This has happened again and again. After getting the help, I usually better understand how LinuxCNC works, but at this point I still could not offer much help with others' questions.

I would like to have a way to pay an amount through Paypal (or something similar) to a LinuxCNC account which would get divided up among those who always seem to answer all these questions over and over and... I view this as a thank you for help already received, not really for help in the future. You guys are taking your time to monitor the forum for questions and I appreciate all the help.

I always tell myself that when I get time, I will learn LinuxCNC to the point of being able to help, but the time never seems to come available.

Paul

I'm not sure of licensing terms or whatever, but I don't see why someone couldn't set themselves up as a LinuxCNC consultant and provide whatever level of service a consumer wanted? Hmm, maybe there could be a "LinuxCNC Certified Engineer" certification process or something where folks are vetted to some certain level of competency?

Or maybe a "bid for answer" kind of set up, LOL. $5 if you answer this question for me within 24Hrs (Or configure this INI or....) and if you want it RIGHT NOW you better cough up $20, and the first one to answer it gets the dough? (Or, opts to donate it back to LinuxCNC?)

I'm just a hobbyist but I can certainly think of times I would have coughed up some dough. (Although really I have found the forum to be pretty awesome!)
