Best PC setup for 2 port parallel step mesa 5i25?

Hi

I have just installed LinuxCNC onto a Taig mill. For historic reasons the interface BOB I built many years ago has twin 25D parallel port connections. I have three old PCs and they all work but I cannot get very good rapid speeds as the PCs are slow. Am I correct in understanding that if I fit a Mesa 5i25 board this overcomes the timing issues? Also it seems that the Mesa 5i25 can be set up with two 25D ports so I could just connect my existing cables. Is this correct?

This seems to me to be the most cost effective solution as the alternative is to build a fast PC and purchase a 2 port parallel card.

I would be grateful for any thoughts/advice or details of other peoples experience.

Regards

Ian

I just need to know the pinouts of the BOB's to select the proper bit file.
You will need both of these.
