In Axis, when it is running and you change somethin in configs and want to restart, you can just start via shorcut on desktop. it wil ask you it is ruunning already, Do you want to restart Linuxcnc. If you say yes, it will shutdown and restart.
In Gmoccapy it throws errors everytime, and you cannot close the errors, plus I cannot find the pid it is running to kill it, so I have to restart.
Is it in the plans to fix this?

Hallo,
is there a way to reproduce that error?
What happen if you start from a terminal?
Why does linuxcnc not shutdown correctly?

I didnt try starting from a terminal but will today.
It happens everytime I click on the shortcut to start LCNC when it is already running.

I just tested to start two configs from terminal
I just get the message, that LinuxCNC is already running.
So all OK here.
I have not checked with shortcuts, as I have not installed master.
Do you start from a bash script? May be that is the reason you do not see the error message.

I get the message also. It asks if you want to restart anyway. I say yes and thats where the problem is. Not the error message.

You should't say YES!
I just checked that.
I got a similar behavior:
I opened two terminals,
started one config from terminal 1
started the same config from the second terminal
got the message "still running, restart"
Said yes
I got error messages like your screenshot, and I was also not able to close them, but killing the first terminal solved the problem.
I have to chek if that can be avoided.
Check the terminal output! A lot of errors. But also the PID of the Process

Yes means Yes...... lol
IT works in Axis, and I use it all the time when configuring and retrofitting a machine. It is faster to restart LinuxCNC that way.

Hallo bevins,
I found the solution, changing the linuxcnc start script. I also added some more testing to some other filed to avoid the errors you mentioned.
I just pushed 2.2.1, please test, if that suit your needs.

@bevins,
that was slow normally I am faster
I pushed to master, so just do a update from git.
If you are using buildbot, it might take a day to be in there.
