Lost user login was created by DustMaxrr
Apparently I made a wrong choice when I ran a 'startx' command. Now at
the Debian1 login, when I enter the user name and pswd, the screen returns to Debian1 login.
All the user files are still there, which file needs repair.
Sorry if this has been covered before, my search didn't find it

I Installed linuxcnc from wheezy iso and running stepper motors from mesa cards.
Thanks

The installation should boot directly to the GUI login screen.

There should be no need to run startx. How long has it been exhibiting this behaviour ?

Have you had a crash or turned the machine off recently by directly disconnecting the power ? Has there been a recent power loss ?

It boots to normal system (Debian1) GUI login screen OK. When I try to then login as user, nothing happens.

System was previously running fine.

While logged in as a user,I was attempting to install USB bluetooth and ran startx command. Then found I could not login at normal GUI login screen.

There should be no reason to run startx when logged in and running a desktop. Where did you get the information to do this ?

It would seem the bluetooth utilities and I would assume drivers are installed via the LCNC wheezy iso, I just did a live boot and blue utilities & libraries are there.

And this happens on reboots as well ?

OK I opened a text terminal in virtual box whilst the login screen was there and ran startx, couldn't login received a message about dbus session. Upon a reboot everything was back to normal.

Does this help ?

I also searched google using this term.
"debian wheezy unable to login after running startx whilst desktop running"
