Now it takes a lot less time to home the machine. I used the CNC Fusion kit with the premium ball screws so the backlash is small on the X & Y. .001 and .002 respectively and some of that is likely coming from the couplers. My Z has .0102. Some of that may be coming from the belt drive between the stepper and the screw. In any case the backlash comp seems to have taken care of it but I am still going to look at is more closely mechanically. It is faster and more accurate than it was before I started so it was a win. I have glass scales and a DRO still mounted from it's manual mill days so it's real easy to check on the backlash and make adjustments.
